I'm not sure what you mean by writing software that runs on your network, I
outsource lots of our progress/aix based programming, it runs on our
network but that server cannot communicate with the outside world. They
modify the code and test it on their machine, then email it to me and I
compile and test it on ours before putting it into service. Nothing from
the inside can phone home.
