Trouble at Arrows

(27-Oct-98) - Arrows Grand Prix appears to be facing a number of problems
for the '99 season.

On a financial front the team and they have resorted to advertising for
potential sponsors on the Internet, suggesting a problem with funding. The
team's appeal for sponsors can be found at www.sponsor-me.co.uk.

The departure of Pedro Diniz for Sauber at the end of the season also
creates a number of problems for Tom Walkinshaw's team. Diniz brought a
substantial cash injection to the team which will go with him to Sauber, he
also leaves a vacant seat, and his replacement has yet to be announced.

On a personnel front, the team has lost its battle to sign former Jordan
designer Gary Anderson. The Irishman will now join Stewart-Ford.

The team's chief engineer, Vincent Gaillardot, is also leaving, heading to
Prost at the end of the season where he will be in charge of race
engineering operations.

It also seems likely that the team will also have to rely on its in-house
engine next year as no works deals are currently available. Although it is
generally accepted that the team have worked wonders with a minimal budget,
the possibility of further financial problems could affect the development
of the Arrows V10.
