| subject: | Re: Marvel introduces iPad app |
My wife is only 4' 10", and consequently finds her 15" PowerBook a bit too heavy, so she plans to get an iPad for portable use in her second career as a playwright. I'm not planning on an iPad at present, as I have a 17" MacBook Pro that I don't find a burden, and an iPhone 3G, but, as chance would have it, I'm just now setting up an LLC to develop software, mainly for iPhoneOS, but also for companion apps on Mac OS X and (yuck! ptooey!) W*nd*ws. I'm a bit of a latecomer, but I've identified a couple of niches where I think I can produce something better than what's now on offer. (Some openings at present exist due to a good many hastily ported PalmOS applications by people who haven't a clue how to make use of a real operating system.) iPhoneOS is pretty easy to master /if/ you already know Cocoa, preferably at the Leopard level. (iPhoneOS omits outright many early MacOS X features that are, on the older system, merely deprecated. It also omits some newer features, chiefly garbage collection.) Alas, I started out without any MacOS X experience at all, except in Java, so I'm having to learn Objective C, Cocoa, XCode, and Interface Builder all at once, which can be a bit overwhelming. --- SBBSecho 2.12-Win32* Origin: Time Warp of the Future BBS - Home of League 10 (1:14/400) SEEN-BY: 3/0 10/1 11/200 331 14/400 34/999 120/228 123/500 128/2 187 140/1 SEEN-BY: 222/2 226/0 236/150 249/303 250/306 261/20 38 100 1381 1404 1406 1410 SEEN-BY: 261/1418 266/1413 280/1027 320/119 393/11 396/45 633/104 260 267 SEEN-BY: 640/954 690/682 734 712/0 313 848 800/432 801/161 189 2222/700 SEEN-BY: 2320/100 105 109 200 5030/1256 @PATH: 14/400 261/38 633/260 712/848 633/267 |
