AGreed. Made lots of good friends via the bbs and fidonet,
and even some through internet newsgroups.

YEp, your users might be anywhere, not local on a dial-up
modem connection as much.
IN central Iowa the local fidonet group had a meeting about
every three months. THOse were fun. A friend of mine used
to have a big picnic for the regulars on his bbs. THose
were even more funh because many of his users were
musicians. PLenty of good entertainment .
WHen I starrted hubbing fidonet in southeastern Iowa we used to set up
seminars on how to use your ocmputer and modem at
the public library. All the local fido sysops cooperated on putting this on.
MIne wasn't the most popular of the local boards, but that
was in many ways by design as I was doing the hub work.
