I'd have to see the whole thread to understand the context, but I will
admit that I tend to see freedom of religion in terms of religious
pluralism rather than religion versus atheism; IOW, to me "religious
freedom" is about allowing Jews, Muslims, etc. to worship unfettered.

So when I speak of not permitting agents of the state to support religion,
I am generally speaking of promoting Christianity over non-Christian
faiths. I do not consider the *generic* promotion of the idea of faith to
be a violation of the anti-establishment clause, as long as no particular
doctrine is endorsed.  Hence, "In God We Trust" on coinage
doesn't bother me.  Posting the Ten Commandments, OTOH, does bother me.
