In California and here in Texas, there's a solid white line painted on the
roadway. It's probably a foot to 18" wide and extends across all lanes of
the right hand side of the road. This is before the cross-walk lines, if
they exist.

Apparently this intersection had 'California Stops' violations going on
for some time. He was there (I saw him) in plain site and I didn't think I
was in error in my stop. Needless to say, he heard plenty about it from me
on the spot. In fact, he was still writing his notes when I left.
