Hill to commit to Jordan?

(13-Oct-98) - Damon Hill could stay at Jordan until the end of his career
if Eddie Jordan continues to believe he is committed enough.

"The age is not important for me," said Jordan of Hill who will
be 39 when his current contract with the team runs out in 1999.

"The criterion is hunger. I look at him and think: "He's as slim
and as trim as ever." Nigel Mansell went on in F1 into his 40s. He was
bulky and had a difficulty at that time in his life with his weight. Damon
does not have that. He is committed to his training programme, and he
pushes very hard on it."

"When he gets a good car under him, Damon can deliver. That's
important. When the car was good, he won a race. One would have to give
fair credit to him." Added Jordan.

Hill refuses to be drawn into when he'll retire, saying only: "I don't
want to be uncompetitive. I don't want to race in the midfield. I am coming
to the end of my career. I'm not going to be driving for another 10 years.
I want to finish giving my best and show that I can be strong and
competitive right to the end, whenever that might be."
