 Well, a silencer WOULD be easy... just change the sounds for the guns when

grab the silencer. A grappling hook... I dunno... just adding a silent 
unning
option to the jet pack would be easier. (It can run silent, but uses up fuel 
faster when you do it, for example.)

 I'm afraid the computer DOES have to process it on the fly, in a 3D action 
game like Duke, Doom, or Quake. Stuff like node trees for Doom can speed 
things up (as the map of the level generally doesn't change too much), but
the stuff you are talking about can't use shortcuts so easily. It may be 
POSSIBLE, but I doubt it's so on, (here comes the phrase again) TODAY'S 
MACHINES. It can be done, but you'll have to wait for technology to catch up
with the vision. Considering the rate things are getting improved now, it
won't be a long wait, luckily. :-)
