Even those pro Vista have experienced roadblocks

As part of the original TAP agreement, we had hoped to deploy more Vista
desktops by now. However, we have encountered a few barriers, including:
a.. Application compatibility. Vista still doesn't support a significant
number of applications critical to UPMC's business, such as ambulatory
patient scheduling, single sign-on, and radiology imaging.
a.. Driver issues. Many hardware manufacturers haven't yet released drivers
that support Vista.
a.. Desktop hardware. To achieve acceptable performance, the desktop
requires more horsepower and memory than we currently have on the majority
of our deployed desktops. Most pilot-user desktops have at least a 3-GHz
processor hyperthreaded with 1 Gbtye of RAM. The standard desktops we're
ordering from our supplier, Lenovo, have a dual-core 2.13-GHz processor
with 1 Gbtye of RAM and 80-Gbtye SATA drives. These will operate with Vista
nicely.
Accelerating our rollout will require these three barriers to be addressed.
However, we have no doubt that these issues will be resolved imminently,
once the industry catches up with Vista's specifications and requirements.
