Reason for removal of Argentinean GP (18-Oct-98) - It seems that it wasn't an option for the FIA to move the Argentinean Grand Prix to the reserve list. In a press release of last Friday, the Gran Premio de la Republica Argentina SA, former organisers of the Argentinean Grand Prix, explained that they are unable to organise a Grand Prix due to the International financial crisis and it's impact on Argentina. However a new, yet unnamed, group have stepped up and has taken over the organisation of the Grand Prix. This new group will make an economical offer to the FOCA soon and after approval the Argentinean Grand Prix can be used as a replacement Grand Prix for China, San Marino or Malaysia. The group is also working on letting the Argentinean Grand Prix return on the calendar in the year 2000. The new group, is said to be lead by the manager of Esteban Tuero, Eduardo Ramirez. --- Msged/386 4.20 beta 4* Origin: Blizzard of Ozz, Melbourne, Australia (3:635/728.4{at}fidonet) SEEN-BY: 633/267 270 @PATH: 633/267 |
