Welcome to the FidoNet SCUBA echo! Following are the
official rules for participating in the message area:
1) The Scuba echo is the place to ask questions about the
sport of Scuba diving. Please feel free to ask any
questions, and to share your own experiences and dive
travel reviews with all of us.
2) Please remember that many of the readers of this echo area
are brand-new sport divers who do not have the necessary
training and experience to handle advanced specialty diving
situations. Discussions of mixed gas diving, extreme depth
diving, and overhead environment diving are certainly welcome
in this area, but we need to make it clear that these forms
of diving require specialized training and experience. None
of us wants the responsibility of inadvertently influencing
an inexperienced diver into a potentially hazardous situation.
3) For reasons of liability and credibility: If you are a
professional (Medical, Legal, dive instructor, etc) and you
are offering your professional opinion/advice/facts, please
post your qualifications and a way to contact you professionally
should someone want further information.
4) Scuba "Agency bashing" is not allowed. Discussion of the pros
and cons of the different certification agencies is okay as long
as it remains a civilized discussion.
5) "Buy and Sell" type messages are okay, but before entering one
please keep in mind that this message base is read by people
all over the globe.
6) If you choose to quote an article from a magazine or
newspaper into this message area, please be aware that you
are very likely violating copyright laws. Technically, you
need to have written permission from both the author and the
publisher to reproduce their work in any form.
7) Before replying to an "upsetting" message, inhale 1 breath of
Nitrous Oxide and 1 breath of Helium and read the message
again, out loud. "Flaming" and/or name calling of other users
for their warped opinions will not be tolerated. Period.
8) Let the moderator do the moderating. If you feel something
has been said which is out of line, please send me a message
via netmail.
9) Please plan your dives, dive your plans, and ONLY dive within
the limits of your training and experience. And don't forget
to tell us all about it when you get back in front of your
computer!
