LR> KS> Both of those small blocks are pretty good depending on the model. I

are
LR> KS> nice.
LR>My 350 that replaced the worn out (but still running) 327 was going to go
in
LR>a race car but the guys who owned it went their separate ways and the one
LR>that ended up with the engine had to move and ended up selling me the
engine

LR>some of the "advertised" horse power rating for the mid 70's 350's they
were
LR>pretty bad.
I'm surprised the guy sold a complete engine that was also warmed over
for so little, you were lucky. What was wrong with the 327, rings?
...Some engines made in the 70's and eighty's just plain lacked balls.
For the most part, the 305 and the 307 V-8's were smog-motors who
couldn't get out of their own shadow!
LR> LR> LR>to get to work with right now.
LR> LR>out that water is getting into the oil. I rode my bike to work until

LR> KS> Major bummer, blown gasket maybe? Where was the engine before you
LR> KS> owned it?
LR>(see above paragraph). But since I bought it from him I have put almost
LR>60,000 miles on it so I know that it did not have any problems. What ever
LR>happended to it happend after I bought it. Had it been a pre-exsisting
LR>problem I would have found out about it a long time ago.
Now don't yell, but by chance did you have just water in it during
some lousy winter? One time I had bought a 56' Chevy 210 with a pucky
283 in it, but the previous owner only had water in it and didn't let me
know (this was November). I had just taken a trip up to my Aunt's
house in Mass. and the shit hit the fan. The freezeout plugs were pushed
out and the block was cracked. After $50 I had to lay out, I was pissed
and I returned the engine pretty quick thereafter. From that is how
I got my Vette 327 V-8 and that mutha hauled!
