Canada also serves another very important function. The USA and Canada
share similar cultures and adjacent geography. In both countries, English
is the primary language (the second languages are French in Canada and
Spanish in the USA).

Often, the USA will start on a policy, practice or belief that centers upon
the culture and practices of the USA.  Canada serves as a valuable "reality
check" to remind us that the way in the USA is ofen  NOT  the only or even
the best way
