Hello David!
-> OS2 FTP will do scripts and autostart them. Check the documentation
-> (very sparse) but as it's a port of an older UNIX FTP the scripting
-> should be similar.
I've tried in many ways to make it work with scripts or macros and I
haven't found a way to do it without operator's intervention. If you
could show me how, better if with examples that would help a lot. The
farther that I've come is to create some macros in the NETRC file but
they have to be execute it manually. And as you said the printed
documentation doesn't say anything about this command, maybe is because
I just got the Warp 4 upgrade, and the online help is very poor.
-> Also look at NcFTP which even better script capability and much
-> better docs and is a freeware port of a better Unix based FTP tool.
I have here NcFTP 2.3.0.OS2 Release 1 and I haven't also found a way to
make it work with scripts, as I said about the OS/2 FTP command, I would
like to know how to do it. The online help that comes with the program
doesn't say anything about scripts, it just mentions the macros and
those have to be started manually.
-> Lastly, depending on what you are trying to automate, FiFTP will
-> probable prove your best bet. It was designed from the ground up to
-> be a tool to pull an FTPBone feed from George Peace (before John was
-> even offering the same service). It now can do a bit more and is very
-> stable and quick.
I'm using FiFTP for my FIDO transfer and is working very well, the
problem is that I belong also to other networks like RIME, and I need a
more flexible FTP client to do my transfers with those networks.
-> On my Merlin system a search for FTP from my help library of all
-> libraries showed several hundred hits. Get NcFTP, it does scripting
-> and FTP in general sooooo much better.
I've downloaded more than twenty FTP clients for OS/2 and so far just
one of them supports scripts, it's called MaxiFTP, the problem is that
doesn't support the 'mdelete' command. :(
-> Any idea why Sendmail won't do the job for you? It is included with
-> Warp Connect and Warp 4. It should also even be part of the IAK as
-> Ultimail needs it to be able to move replies back to the net.
Yeah, it comes with Warp 4. I was thinking that it could do the job but
it looked very complicated.
-> Sendmail -af {filename} -f {fromname@domain} {toname@domain}
It seems that is going to work, I've done some testing and it almost
does what I want. I have two questions, I haven't found the meaning for
the -af parameter, just for the -a what's the difference? and the other,
do you know if this program returns any error level information when
some problems have occured while sending the messages, like server down,
user unknown, or with a successfull transfer, etc.
Thank you very much for your help.
Greetings,
