subject: What every filker should filk

MP> From my (admittedly) limited exposure to filk tapes, and
MP> from my more extensive chatting with a filker friend, I've
MP> come to the conclusion there are certain songs that every
MP> filker should have in one's repetoire. My question: What are
 MP> these songs?

 MP> 1. A "Banned from Argo" filk

MP> 2. A Star Trek Filk. Or three. Or Four.

 MP> 3. A Tolkien filk

 MP> 4. A Cthulu filk

 MP> 5. A Unicorn filk

 MP> 6. A Babylon 5 filk

 MP> 7. A MST3K filk

Okay, I am not a Filker, by any stretch of the imagination, so you will
probably want to ignore me. But why do you feel you must have any "standards"
in your repetoire? What is wrong with doing your own stuff? If someone didn't
create songs long ago, there wouldn't be any "standards."
I deleted them, but the reason I answered your message is, I have never heard
_any_ of the songs you listed. So, what makes them standards as opposed to
others?
