TR> That was brought to my attention by numerous people in the echo, that the
TR> topics had strayed from the intended purpose of ASKACOP. Many of us are
TR> trying to get the echo back on topic and help those who don't wish to
ade
TR> through a ton of politics and philosophy before getting to an on-topic
TR> message. This is assuming that you are talking about ASKACOP. There are
TR> many
TR> citizens.
True, very true. That was a big problem with Ask a Cop II in the big
flame war between Charles Hunters faction (which included him and maybe two
or three others) and mine (which included most of the echo). It wasn't
pretty, and some of the hard feelings and confusion still remains, as you see
with Charles not responding to my funeral question. After he told me the
problem, I e-mailed him private e-mail. I am currently trying to resolvew
our difference, but it does have a lot to do with it. I admit I was wrong
with my part in the war, especially jumping in the middle, seeing blood and
taking the lead.
TR> Just for a little bit of humor, I remember talking to an elderly lady who
TR> was
TR> experiencing problems in her neighborhood. I suggested starting a
TR> neighborhood watch program in her area and getting her neighbors involved
TR> with solving the problems in her neighborhood. She told me that she was
TR> too
TR> old to patrol up and down the alleys. I explained what a Neighborhood
TR> Watch
TR> did, and she helped to form a very active and successful program. This
TR> type
TR> of a program definitely opens excellent channels of communications
etween
TR> the citizens and the police. It every area had a functioning neighborhood
TR> watch program, crime would definitely be reduced.
That's good, as long as the citizens actually patrol and call the
cops. If not, you add to the problem of everybody watching but doing
thing.
Peace.
