Because the real story of "Crusade" never even /started/. All we got
was an introduction to the characters and a throwaway story arc
created on the spur of the moment to satisfy a Suit who would not be
satisfied without one. Even the arc that we know about from a handful
of unproduced scripts (Earth black ops still finding and utilizing
Shadow tech years after Coriana VI) is, judging from JMS has revealed
recently, not the /real/ story.
And there is another reason, and that is that JMS created "Crusade" as
a project for actors and cameras and CGI and costumes and makeup and
lights and all the things that go into making a television series.
Those were the bones of "Crusade", and, without them, what would be
left would be reminiscent of the ending of a certain classic Ray
Bradbury short. There is a reason that prose-narrative versions of
Shakespeare's plays are filed as "children's literature".
