I mourn the lack of bad beers. :)  When I was in college in the late 80s, there
was a variety of cheap, watery beers that were perfect for the college life
style. Brown Derby, Schaefer's, Red White and Blue, Carling Black Label,
Heidelberg, Schmidt, and others were around $3.00 a 12-pack, and there was a
variety of inexpensive nationwide beers - all a tier or two below the
coors/bud/miller tier.


Most of those names were old local beers with histories that have gone away,
although most of the names are still held by larger breweries in case they want
to re-introduce them.
