Diniz drops Arrows for Sauber

(6-Oct-98) - Pedro Diniz has clinched a deal to join Jean Alesi at Sauber next year.

Sauber has not yet announced the arrangement with the Brazilian, it is
thought there may still be small contractual details to be sorted out.
However, the deal is said to be definite.

Diniz wanted to take a step up the grid in 1999 and it's understood that he
thought the Arrows, which will be relying on a modified version of this
year's car, would make very little headway next year.

Favourite to replace Diniz at Arrows is Jordan test driver Pedro de la
Rosa, but Tyrrell drivers Ricardo Rosset and Toranosuke Takagi are also
said to be in the frame, Takagi is likely to take a year out to test for
the new Honda team.
