RW> True, but then I'd have to wait for the semi to stop long enough to RW> unhook... Get one with a quick disconnect you can activate from the car. (-: RW> Boot camp in SD? There is a place called MCRD, Marine Corp Recruit Depot, RW> but boot camp is at Pendleton, just north of Oceanside. Sorry, I meant Camp Pendleton, of course. But it wouldn't be too far from SD. I was supposed to go there for his graduation, but my job at the time wouldn't permit the away time. RW> Yeah, but that gets boring after a while. You need a variety of weather RW> to make your day interesting. 360 days/yr of no humidity and pure RW> sunshine can't get any more boring. :o) Zero humidity would be a wonderful change of pace for a visitor, but I wouldn't want to live there. RW> Exactly...we did the same here. As I stepped out the door yesterday RW> morning, I thought to myself, "God, if we could only have days like this RW> for the next 180 days, that'd be great." I wished for them to be all year long. That would mean no more hurricanes or tropical storms, which in turn means more pleasant weather and rainfall one can put up with. RW> Nice guys like that are hard to find these days. I think there are one or two more. RW> That's because you're thinking of Corvairs and I'm talking about the RW> europeon styled Monza that used to be a Vega. Buick, Olds and Pontiac RW> also shared that body, but only Chevrolet put a V8 in them. I passed a sign this morning at a dealership that read Buick, Pontiac, GMC. Guess that will change soon. It's almost like GM is playing 10 Little Indians with their car lines, but they brought this on themselves. I forgot about the European-style Monza. RW> I'd like to thank him with a 2x4 along side his frontal lobe and a boot RW> where the sun doesn't shine. You'll have to get in line, podnuh. (-:[ RW>RN> That thing ran like a Cheetah! RW> I'm sure it did... Only twice as fast. RW> I drove the 2400 miles to Madison, WS in less than 36hrs back in 92, when RW> my dad was in the intensive care there. That would have made a difference to me, too, I think. RW> That's what my daughter tells me. She's a scuba diver when she's not RW> working. She and her hubby have a nice boat and take the kids with them. If I had an empty jar I would have brought back a sample of it, but pictures are sometimes as good when no other recourse is available. The sample would be gone anyway. RW> The humidity? I can't say. It was mid-June or July and we were there for a week. There was always a breeze coming from somewhere. My bil (now deceased) was a P.I. and took me on a case with him to Orlando. Paid me for my time, too. I had just missed the Jacques Mossler murder trial in Miami that he worked on for the defense and the defendants were his widow and her nephew. They were defended by Percy Foreman, whom my bil told me had a "booming voice." I'd like to have been in on that. RW> When I had just turned 18, I was drag-racing another car on a one-way RW> street and a foot cop jumped out in front of me. He opened my passenger RW> door, hopped in and instructed me to drive to the station. On the way I RW> told him that he was lucky I had good brakes or he'd be my new hood RW> ornament. He wasn't very happy about that, but years later he remembered RW> what I had said and instead of giving me a ticket for speeding with the RW> 65 Malibu SS, told me to slow down and take it easy. Foot cops. We didn't have them in New Orleans. The city takes up the whole parish and I don't think any thought was given to beat cops when they could get to a destination rather fast and they would be in pairs. Also, times were different back then. People acted more responsibIy. I remember a lecture a motorcycle cop gave me after writing me a ticket for speeding. Had I gone to court, that offense would have been thrown out, but I decided to pay the fine because the lecture taught me something. Regards, Roger ...
