I WILL *NOT* BE ASSIMILATED!!!!! *;^)>>>>

I re-watched ST-FC the other night with a friend, and I caught this
phrase as well.

A valid question. The book "The Return" I believe was published and on
the shelves at least 6 months before the movie opened. I am also willing to
bet that Shatner, et.al., did not consult with Berman et.al. on the story
line of their respective stories. Such inconsistancies exist throughout
the "realm of StarTrek" where the printed books conflict in some way with
the films. I know in one of the books, it is stated the the Klingon peoples
have a shorter life span than humans. Yet the video, ie Deep Space Nine,
presents Kang, et.al. as old, but very much alive, and out living Kirk.
The only thing that can be said is that if the movie scripts and/or TV
continue to develope the ST-FC concept of Borg origins, it will likely be
accepted over the printed material, and that would be appropriate since ST's
origins are video. Until that takes place I'll stay with my
V'ger/Decker/Ilea origin of the Borg.
