Well, I run this BBS, and according to the logs, it went out.  I can only 
ope
other systems kill it.  Depends on the BBS software settings whether
attachments get imported into msg. bases - at least here, it does.

Yes, they do!  I send chess files all the time attached to netmail msgs.
That's why Front Door, Intermail, etc. have files-to and files-for in their
route control files.
