Under federal law you have to pay a one-time $200 tax & wait 3 months to
get your permit before you can take the automatic rifle home.  After that,
you can take it around your state of residence, but if you transport it out
of state you must get prior acknowledgement by ATF.  They have a form
specifially for that.  You can let other people shoot it as long as you are
there, but you can't loan it out.
Only a little more than half of the states allow automatic firearms
ownership, even under the federal regs.  What state are you in?
