Microsoft will make Linux very popular if they try to drag everyone to the
cloud, for sure.

The cloud might make sense for small to medium sized companies, but that is
about it.  The average consumer will not pay a subscription for their OS. 
That is insane, especially since most people only need a web browser to
function. They can do that on a cheap chrome book.
