subject: OS/2 v4 install

Hi Bryan,
You asked:
BS>Is it possible to install OS/2 v4 using HPFS beyond the first 1024
BS>cylinders of the hard drive and still get it to boot? Does only the
BS>boot manager need be within the first 1024 cylinders ?
No :-(. The 1024 cylinder limitation is an artifact of the BIOS INT 13
disk driver which has only 10 bits allocated for cylinder number (allows
cylinders 0 to 1023), and the BIOS is used until well into the loading
of the OS (any OS). The limitation applys to all OSs on a PC, not just
OS/2.
