EO> Regular school principals, you can chew out for not knowing the
EO> situation... Can't do that to your husband as easily, though!
EO> I just got to have the fun of pointing out to my husband that our
EO> homeschooler won't talk to me over -anything- if she can avoid it.
EO> She's been that way all her life, and it's just changing now...
RF> My husband and I have a good relationship. I can chew hin out and get
RF> away with it. Of course, it must be done the right way. As he has a
RF> temper just like my 8 year old.
I meant that regular school principals don't know your children the way you
and your husband do... (grin) Of course, unless you're in a
"stay-at-home-Dad" situation, he may not know what's going on, but at least
he hears about it daily, unlike a principal, who doesn't know when
something's up until the teacher chooses to bring it to his attention.
RF> My 8 year old doesn't like to talk about
RF> things that bother him either. He is getting better though. But when
RF> these episodes start like the one at school where he blew up, or if he
RF> feels he is embarrased or stressed out then he gets moody or violent.
My daughter and I love each other dearly -- but she wouldn't let me play with
her as a baby, didn't want to be read to, stuff like that. Just further
proof that she's been Absence Seizure Disorder all her life...
RF> He hits or punches the wall or if you tell him to stand in the corner
e
RF> finds the corner with the TV stand (its big) and smashes himself into
t
RF> until he sees it rocking. I have to remind him beforehand to quiety
find
RF> a corner and stand there. In other words I have to anticipate what he
is
RF> going to do before he does it. Or else.
(been there, done that) I never gave my children choice of which corner was
for standing in -- it was the one reserved just for that, away from windows
and things they could damage! (Anticipating that they'd either blow their
tops, which they never did, or start playing with things, which is -not- the
purpose of standing in the corner!)
