YEp, they're trying to stuff dsl and other digital stuff
into the same pipes by doing some filtration games.

THis friend I reference in 601 area was really having some
battles with the telcos over them bolixing his dial-up inet
connection, he handles a lot of stuff for ham radio digital
networks, that when radio circuits go fubar because of the
sun spots thing piggybacks on the net. sO they sold him
dsl.

fOr the first 3 months they didn't have his dsl reliable,
and then they fubar the filtration to keep his voice line
clean. AT times he'd sound like he had an echo box on his
signal, at other times he'd be so muffled you couldn't
understand him.

My voice connections with a couple of 601 numbers are some
of the poorest quality I see on a regular basis.

I remember using a tagline for years "line noise provided by U.S> west."
