In this case, it's not wrong. Yes, they use a live person to be baptized
but it is NOT necessarily done for a dead relative, as witness the uproar
by Jewish organizations over the baptism of(for, if you prefer) dead
Holocaust victims. And the idea is to convert those who have already died
from the religion they practiced (or didn't practice) in life to mormonism.
And that's totally tacky.

Mormon theology gives people the chance to accept the gospel even after
they die. Many critics see the practice as changing the deceased's faith.
