A similar trap, intended for rats, was tried out by some

electricians I know, using a charged cap instead of straight mains

(slightly safer). It never scored, even though the rats were

definitely in the area. The current theory is that the animal was

scared off by a small initial shock received while closely sniffing

the bait.
