TW> MW* Tree Walsh - The wind whispered your name to me...
 TW> Beautiful words!
Glad you like them..I always feel that the wind is whispering something
to me..and I like it when it is the name of friends..:)
TW> MW* Welcome Tree...Congradulations on 47 months of being clean and
TW> sober.. * I am sure you could tell us a few good stories about your
TW> recovery.. * If you would like to, please feel free..this way, you
 TW> won't have to * stay quiet...
 TW> Thanks Marie.
TW> Like I said in my earlier post I surf by here occasionally and find it
TW> very quiet...which I appreciate in real life...but not so much in a
TW> discussion! LOL!! But I still will continue check in to see what's
 TW> up.

 I can understand enjoying the quiet..I have 8 kids and 34 grandkids..and
when several of them visit at the same time..I *long* for the quiet..
I hope you stop by often and join in whatever conversation is going on..
That is what makes this echo a sucess..people like you adding your words
 here...

 TW> I celebrated 4 years on July 13th.!!!
Wonderful..and you did it "a day at a time" ... Congradulations..

TW> I never thought I'd see the day that I could say that it's been 4
TW> years since I did drugs or drank...but I have! For 15 years I used
TW> *all day* *every day* and couldn't stand to be in my skin if I wasn't
 TW> high or drunk.
I have several friends who have gone through similar experiences..they
never thought they could face any day straight..some of them now have a
few years and some have a few months..but all have finally found out that
facing life on life's terms isn't terrible..it just takes work..

TW> These past 4 years of hard work have given me a peace of mind that I
TW> never thought possible. It was the hardest work I've ever done...and
 TW> the MOST REWARDING!
That is wonderful..I am glad that you have found some peace of mind..I
know people that have never had a user problem that can't say that.

TW> Today it's rear that I crave or even think about drugs or booze. When
TW> I do I get to work right away at discovering what is triggering me,
TW> and doing something about it.
My husband used to get a craving every once in a while on a very hot day.
He wanted "something cold"...I used to give him a tall, cold root beer..
and after a few minutes..all he wanted was the root beer...:) But you are
right, there are some things deep inside that can still trigger that old
longing..and when you find out what it is, and work to eliminate it..you
once again can acheive that peace of mind..

TW> And to think I used to think that it was easier to ignore it!!! NOT!!
Ignoring something just makes it harder to deal with..because you push it
somewhere deep inside and then, one day, it just busts forth..and usually
worse than it was in the first place...better to face things head on..and
deal with them..but that can be a hard thing to do when just starting out.
That's why the programs are so important..you talk to others who did the
same thing and you can gain insight..if you are willing..the programs do
 work...IMHO...:)
