Thanks for the suggestion... Just because I deleted the text, don't
think I ain't picking through it! :)
I've posted this one several places.. You're the first person kind enough to
tackle it.. and... smile... in FidoNet...
Cbreeze wasn't much help on this one for an uninformed c'b er. I also
stumbled across the OBASIC translator two days ago. It, apparently, makes a
*FAR* more complex code conversion process from some form of BASIC into an
intermediate C++ source code step. I fell asleep at the screen in the wee
hours playing with it. In THEORY, it claims to be able to handle up to three
dimensional arrays of even strings and keep it all straight, per the notes in
the demo deal...
:) ummmm.....
I have been reading along in the other threads here too! Can see how setting
up a string class with the known EOL pointer could go a long way toward
speeding CPU op times up in intensive string work, not having to pick through
the array to find CHR$(0). I've never dissassembled the M/S code, nor looked
in the libraries for the assembler code. Is this the way Gordon Letwin chose
to implement the string functions in M/S Basic, to your knowledge?
I'll keep you posted on how it all develops.
