Goodyear cancel contracts to allow Bridgestone test

(30-Oct-98) - Nearly all teams will be staying on at Suzuka for testing of
Bridgestone's tyres in preparation for next year after the Grand Prix.

There will be several sessions arranged on Tuesday and Wednesday, although
even on Friday, it was not known how many sets of tyres would be available
per team.

In many cases, this will be the first opportunity for Goodyear runners to
try Bridgestones, but at one time, there was the possibility that they
wouldn't be allowed to do so as it was discovered that many of their
Goodyear contracts would still be applicable.

However, Goodyear have now cancelled all their contracts from Tuesday
morning onwards. Among those taking part in the test will be Ralf
Schumacher driving for Williams, and Heinz-Harald Frentzen driving for
Jordan, both drivers making their debuts in their new cars.
