Mystic was the first DOS-based package ported to Linux back in the 90s and its
still actively developed now (and always has been free).  Its available for
Windows, Linux, OSX, and ARM Linux (Raspberry Pi).

Synchronet, BBBS, MBSE, and Daydream are some others I know are still
maintained and have Linux versions, although the last two I don't know what
their status is.  I can't think of any more off hand.
