There was a similar situation in Russia in the 90s. The fucking 
Yeltsin's team had annoyed so many people that Zhirinovsky, the Russian 
political clown (also fucking one, however), had got a lot of voices 
during the president elections. But Yeltsin had fabricated the election 
results and remained in power.
