AAA NEWS FOR SEPTEMBER 2005
 -------------------------
 John Pazmino
 NYSkies
 nyskiesastronomy{at}earthlink.net

This article accompanies, but is separate from, the monthly NYC
Events column in NYSkies, various Internet newsgroups, and handouts.
This separation simplifies the distribution of both NYC Events and the
material peculiar to Amateur Astronomers Association Inc, New York. The
material here, was previously carried in the 'city news' section of
NYC Events, which is now discontinued there.
Letters commenting on Amateur Astronomers Association are posted
directly by their authors into the message area of the NYSkies
Yahoogroup forum. To join NYSkies, send a blank email to 'nysky-
subscribe{at}yahoogroups.com'.
You may ask for the next issue of NYC Events and this AAA News
thru our email 'nyskiesastronomy{at}earthlink.net' if you didn't yet join
the forum.

Risk of hostility and abuse at AAA events
 ---------------------------------------
In August 2005 Richard Rosenberg and Bruce Kamiat, Board
seatholders at Amateur Astronomers Association Inc, put out threats of
abuse and hostility against certain people at AAA events. These threat
were made thru the NYSkies discussion forum in a open and public
manner.
Details are in 'City news', following the list of events.
There is reasonable risk of abusive or hostile behavior to
visitors at AAA events if Rosenberg or Kamiat, or other AAA officials,
partake in the event.
AAA events under this risk are marked in NYC Events's index with a
'*'. They are noted here.

During August, Bruce Kamiat, Board member at Amateur Astronomers
Association Inc, took some fire in NYSkies for his sexist/militarist
character. By return fire he posted lengthy discourses and a crate of
photographs. Photographs? Yes.
They are in the photos section of NYSkies in Kamiat's folder. As a
bonus, these are yours for FREE. No 'add-to-cart' silliness.
Then, out of the sky like twin asteroid hits, US Secretary of
Defense Donald Rumsfeld and NYC Council candidate Victor Bernace
silenced all criticism about Kamiat.
Bernace, Democrat from Washington Heights -- where Kamiat lives on
Kamiat Place -- has a campaign fund-raiser in September. It features
erotic dancers! He insists [wink] 'there will be no stripping at the
bash, but there'll be four babes in bikinis and two studs in Speedos'.
In targeting lonely middle-aged men in his district, he's looking for
extras to fill out the stage.
Rumsfeld got a front page story in The Onion, 2005 August 18-24,
about his surprise visit to his [snip!]. You have to read the account
yourself. Be assured that it reports routine travels of the Defense
Secretary with both militarist and sexist content.
Bruce! With such heavy support on your side, it's no wonder that
your critics shut up!!
Just when our ribs were snapping from laughing out both Kamiat and
fellow AAA Board member Richard Rosenberg threw damaging blows at AAA.
Lo here the excerpts from their August letters in NYSkies. Full text
and dialog from other correspondents are right there in the raw for
your harvest in NYSkies.

I'm glad you remember that, Tom. Keep it in mind. Us liberals are
damgerous people!
