subject: Rubber Stamp Companies

I don't know who else might be interested, but I
thought I'd let you know which rubber stamp companies
have been "angel" companies and which have not.
I do know that there are a couple companies that I will
no longer buy stamps from (unless, of course, it is
something I absolutely can't do without), and with the
number of companies out there I don't think that is
a problem.
I wrote to the companies that I could find addresses for
and told them that I was going to be selling hand stamped
rubber stamped cards and had a web page toward that
purpose as well. I explained that I was on disability
income and that this was going to hopefully help supplement
my income and help with RX and groceries.
So here is the info...I won't mention all of them because
they aren't in front of me, but if you have a specific
company you may want to ask about let me know and I might
know. :-) ALL the companies specify that the work must be
hand stamped and not mass produced..such as copying. I'll
send a "catalog" of sorts to friends of the images
available, but have had posted on the web page a note that
says that if they are interested in a specific catagory
to let me know and I will hand stamp the pages for $2-$4
a page depending on the number of images and then they
can get back $1-$2 a page as a discount for their order.
DJ Inkers requires a $50 registration fee, the signing
of a contract and a royalty of .50 cents per item sold
with one of their images on it, reported monthly. Needless
to say I am no longer buying their stamps. I wouldn't
have had that kind of money.
Printworks asks for a one time fee of $5, which I believe
basically covers the cost of the (c) stamp that they
send to stamp on cards using their images. As long as
everything is handstamped there isn't a problem. They
do ask where you wish to sell the stamps and what kind
of volume you are looking at...I simply wrote that I
honestly didn't know because a lot of it was based on
word of mouth and advertising. I knew it wouldn't be
huge amounts.
Just got a letter from PSX. While they will not allow
their images to be posted to a web page, they will allow
their images to be used on items. A proposel needs to
be sent to them about what you are selling, where, and
how. Not a problem.
JudiKins allows their stamps to be used and sends a
(c) stamp to use on the back of those cards. I plan to
buy more of their stamps in the future.
Hero Arts and Rubber Stampede do NOT allow their stamps
to be used for anything other than personal use. What I
found interesting is that Hero Arts gives permission to
use their images on personal items such as business
cards which sure sounds like they can be mass produced.
But I am not buying many of their stamps and I honestly
didn't have a huge amount of their stamps anyway.
Uptown, Azadi Earl, and Holly Pond Hill are all the same
company. Permission can be received for Azadi Earl but
not for the other two.
All Night Media does not mind you using their stamps,
except for those that are Disney, Mary Englebret and
the right which have their own copyrights. I still
make cards with those images, but I don't advertise
it and most of those cards, such as the Pooh cards,
have gone to friends. I have quite a few stamps from
All Night Media.
One of the companies, I don't recall which off-hand,
told me in a letter that if I were using their images
with other media and other stamps that I didn't need
their written permission because each card was my
own creation. That is also what Dee's attorney said
when she asked them about this. So I'm not too
worried about anything I will sell.
Stamps for Precious Moments and Dots are also only
allowed for personal use only.
I haven't yet heard from Inkadinkado or Stampendous.
Though I think I can probably get permission from
Stampendous. In their catalog there were only a few
instances where it specifically says that the rubber
stamps (like Precious Moments) can only be used for
personal use.
Most just ask that credit is given. A couple local
companies here in Portland...First Impression Rubber
Stamps, and Rainy Day Stamps also will authorize use.
So, as long as there are letters in the file you really
don't have to worry and they were very nice for the
most part.
So, hope this may help someone.
