subject: pktsort not quite getting it

I'm pulling in a fair amount of multiple-part emails lately, things like
picking up stuff via fileserv systems and the like, and while I'd like to
be able to automate the handling of such stuff at this end when it comes
in, I find that PKTSORT isn't quite up to the job. For some reason, one
or more pairs of messages in a long string of them for one particular file
will end up being swapped around from the order that they _should_ be in.

Here's an example:

ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 1 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 2 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 3 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 5 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 4 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 6 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 7 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 8 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 9 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 10 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 11 of 12
ELEM-OS2.ZIP part 12 of 12

This was taken from a "list msgs" view of my netmail area earlier
today. Note that 5 and 4 are out of order.

This means that I can't simply tag all of the parts of a file, and write
them out as one operation, but must instead do it one at a time
(time-consuming!). It also means that I can't have this sort of thing
handled automatically when stuff comes in that way (which I could otherwise
do).

Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Trying to deal with the parts in the order they're in gives me a
"broken" zip file (or whatever the archiving method is).
