DA>The Founding Fathers didn't envision anything like this. It is clear
DA>that they pictured the president as an administrator - not a king.
DA>Unfortunately, that appears to be the direction we're headed.
I started to reply to you in an affirmative voice. But the more I
thought about it, the more I disagreed. I think the Founding Fathers
did envision this. They had it in their times, and rebeled against it,
creating a new nation, with a form of government designed to control it.
I also think they saw it in the future for you and I. Placing the 2nd
amendment onto the Constitution, and including the portion about
peaceably overthrowing the government when it needs it.
All a tyrant is is a tyranical person who has achieved their goal of
tyranny. We have always had tyranical people, and always will. It is
their nature to attempt to achieve tyranical powers. It is also natural
for each one to achieve some additional powers, and for subsequent
tyrants to build on the successes of their predecessors. I think our
Founding Fathers foresaw and expected this, and gave us weapons to
defend ourselves against it.
I'd like to think our Founding Fathers didn't anticipate a people that
would refuse to stand up for themselves. But in all honesty, I suspect
they did. They battled apathy at home, be that home the American
colonies or England. It was a very small minority that wanted to truly
rebel against the King.
Nor do I think they expected the new government, or even the new nation,
to last forever. Nothing ever does. Our Founding Fathers had some
great minds, and I think they knew all these things as well.
Acknowledging the death, and need for a death, of a government in the
Constitution.
