-> You know, corperate desicion or not, X-men 137 stands as one of the t
-> classics, & for 5 years, Jean Grey was listed as amongst the dead.
-> Pretty fancy re-writing of comics history, having her replaced back i
-> x-men 101 by the phoenix! You know, if you want to read just how stri
-> the comics code was, when first imlimented back in march of 55,
-> cheack out comic market place 58, to see an article reprinted from
-> that year.Man,It had a strangle hold right up into 1971. Anyway,
-> under the original code rules, Phoenix HAD to pay for her crimes of
-> planitary genocide! I beleave she also wipped out a shir starship &
-> its crew. You just KNOW that eventualy, she would have got her powers
-> back,& she would have had to be killed sooner or later. She had
-> become the most dangerous entity not just on earth but in the
-> galaxy.Clarmont crossed the point of no return with her after 135.
That's RIGHT!! I forgot about the Comic's Code Authority!! I remember
reading its manifesto a long time ago, and I distinctly remember it
saying that a villain HAD to meet his or her just desserts if a
noteworthy crime was committed!!
But still, they wouldn't have even HAD to kill her off if Claremont
hadn't had her devouring that planet and its inhabitants to begin with!!
And you could always ascribe it to Jason Wyngarde's noxious hold over
her, as well, getting her off the hook!!
