I don't know. You might try a search engine. Meanwhile, I just
received dire news about Lexicon's DC-1 I was hopeing to get eventually. It
would seem that *in addition* to the total price of $4500 retail for the
AC-3/THX everything model, there is an unmentioned $699 RF Demodulator
required for it to work with current laserdisc players (as if there were any
other method available...DVD is vaporware as far as I'm concerend can remain
so...it's just plain inferior to laserdisc...nasty artifacting with some
movies with high movement...that I can do without, not to mention all the
bogus special interest copy protection going on there....doesn't matter if I
don't copy them anyways, I get sick of lobbyist BS. This country really is
for sale. Vote Perot '96! :-)

What!?!? You've got to be kidding me. I've got all three albums
and two CD-Maxi Singles (one with 4 live concert tracks that sound real as
her sitting in front of me!) from two different stores (Camelot and Quonset
Hut) and you're telling me they haven't heard of her out in the desert?
Bizarre.
In fact, just this morning around 4AM I finally got around to
listening to her first album all the way through ("Little Earthquakes"). It
will probably be added to the recommended list as soon as I get some more
listening time in, although it is quite clear that this disc is not of the
same caliber as the other 4. Whereas I gave "Under The Pink" and "Boys for
Pele" the highest Sound Quality rating (A++), I'm afraid "Little Earthquakes"
is going to get a B or B+, as it's a tad harsh and a fair bit "grainy"
sounding, whereas the newer discs are almost perfection materialized
recording wise. However, several of the songs were very good on it. I
especially liked "Winter" and "China." "Me and a Gun" was about as
emotionally gripping as they get, having no accompanying music at all and
based on her "close call" with a rapist. (all her songs are based on her
life/views/feelings)
Overall, though, "Under the Pink" is the best album, IMO, although
"Boys For Pele" is getting better with every listen (I didn't like it all
that much the first time through because of some of the lyrics, but after I
figured out she wasn't talking about what it sounded like on the surface, it
began to sink in over time). A Stereophile review wronged it badly, in
saying that it was no fun to listen to because of blatant Lesbian overtones.
This is actually funny, because not only is she not gay, but that's not what
the songs are really talking about. Much of it is anger targeted at her
former fiancee who broke up with her right before the album, from what I
understand. However, it's even less mainstream than previous albums, so you
may want to listen to "Under The Pink" first. If you don't like that, you
probably won't want to hear Pele.
You could always try one of the large CD mail-order chains, such as
advertised in Stereo Review. They'll carry all domestic stuff.
> haven't heard any of her music yet, and everyone, everywhere you

The albums aren't as minimalist as the concerts, although Pele is
much more so than the others. Many live songs are available on the CD-Maxis,
which have a single and about 5 other songs each, usually unreleased and/or
live material. The single for "Hey Jupiter" for instance, has live and
unreleased versions of "Sugar" and "Honey," which are both very good, and it
even has a live version of the "Somewhere Under the Rainbow" if you can
believe it. :)
(yes the Judy Garland song from The Wizard of Oz)
As for Floyd, that's really strange. You must really be in the
boondocks. ;-) Every store in town has just about *everything* available. A
mail-order house surely would carry everything and probably have reasonable
prices too. The discount price you mentioned in e-mail is the regular price
at the local store "Quonset Hut." I wasn't aware that things were so
difficult to find elsewhere.

8-) That's pretty funny. Yeah, I'm less surprised at this.
Soundtracks (especially orchestral ones) are harder to find around here,
although Camelot carries a very large selection, including this one. Once
again, it should be available mail-order.
Send me e-mail if you have any problems locating a mailorder place or have
any questions about anything, etc.
Gordon.
