McLaren boss pleads for support

(29-Oct-98) - McLaren boss Ron Dennis has pleaded with the sport's
supporters to spare a little thought for them in their world championship
showdown with Ferrari this weekend.

Dennis claims that while Ferrari get most of the attention because of their
history and mystique, McLaren deserve as much support -- but because of
different reasons.

"What people tend to forget is that we are a British-based team and
proud of it. Sure, it might be good for Formula One if Ferrari were to win
their first championship for 18 years and to do it fair and square.

"But before anyone gets carried away, spare a thought for us. It has
been seven years since we won a title and we have been down in the dumps
working very hard and with lots of dedication from many people, to claw our
way back."
