Jordan looking to upset championship battle

(29-Oct-98) - Eddie Jordan believes that his team can play an outcome in
the fight for the Formula One world championship by racing to victory in
this weekend's Japanese Grand Prix.

The colourful Irishman, whose team took their maiden win in Belgium this
year, is confident that an improved engine from Mugen-Honda can help his
outfit end their season on a high -- and he is pinning his hopes on Ralf
Schumacher.

"I really believe we will have a hand in shaping the outcome of the
world championship," he said. "In the last three months, Ralf has
matured massively. If we can give him the car I believe we can, then he
could be a big factor."

Jordan's team are currently battling for third place in the constructors'
world championship with Williams and Benetton and a good result would leave
them only behind Ferrari and McLaren.
