The movie as a whole is about the rivalry between the two magicians.
Tesla's teleporter is simply a means for one of them to "win" the
rivalry. Hence I don't consider this a sci-fi movie per se.

But the teleporter certainly is a fictional scientfic device, which 
is why I specifically mentioned Nikola Tesla and "science fictiony 
goings-on" in my posting. Your question makes no sense if that text 
is restored.
