There is something that I noticed that is common to all the 1st person
multiple weapon "3d" shoot'em up games like DN3D.
The characters have perfect balance. They never trip, stumble or fall unless
they're dead or dying. What if you got wobbly when your down to 10% life?
That would add a good deal of realism. As the games are now there are only
two conditions that affect your performance: Alive or Dead.
You could figure the stability.
life = Char_hp * 100 + 1 / max_hp 'figure a constantly positive percentage
stable = life + 50 ' only become unstable at 50%
So if your stable variable is negative you get a little sloppy
and if it really dips then you begin to get blurred vision and stumble
and bleed profusely. Grim, I know, but it would be totally new and
add something that none of the other games have to date. Perhaps the
character would begin to drop things because of injuries. And you know..
you should have more ways that the character dies. On that note, good gob
with Duke's death in water. I half expected him to scream and sink
when I played the first time.
