OK,
- find a cell-restored '43
- on logic board, solder a diode between the D1 anode pad
and the D5 cathode pad (use same orientation as existing diodes)
  [keylock switch setting at powerup
will now control step size in cellular bands]
on RF board,
- remove L101
- add static protection between antenna input and ground
(either a resistor (10K), or two diodes)
- bypass 30 - 54 MHz bandpass filter
(solder jumper between input of C134 and output of L117)
- reassemble scanner
- power up scanner with keylock off
- load 824.0700 MHz into any memory location
- power up scanner with keylock on
- turn off keylock
- do direct search (down) from 824.0700 previously stored
- scanner will search down from 824.0700 to 0.0000 MHz
- use squelch control and up/down keys to stop search on band edges
  (exact frequencies are: 806.0075, 511.9950, 220.0025,
   173.9975, and 30.0025)
- transfer each band edge frequency to monitor memory,
and then to a regular channel
- to tune to a given frequency, perform a direct search
from nearest band edge frequency, i.e. to tune CB channels,
  search down from 30.0025
(most searches only work when the scanner is searching UP,
so go below the CB frequencies and then search up through
them, and remember to set AM/FM mode as required)
SC>Maybe Gus will follow them to scanner nirvana.
He brought his over, and now he has full coverage as well as
latching LED backlights. I think he's found his nirvana...
I know I'm happy picking up WBZ from Boston on 1030 KHz
all the way up here in Toronto on my '43!
The SW reception isn't too bad either. I get WWV on 5 and 10 MHz,
CHU on 3.33 and 7.33 MHz, along with WHRI from Indiana, WWCR,
Tom Valentine doing his talk show, lots of religious nuts,
survivalist nuts, as well as untold French, German, Spanish,
Bolivian, Chinese, and Italian broadcasts.
The scanner picks up between 50 and 100 SW stations at one sitting,
mainly in the range 2300 KHz to 13 MHz.
