I've been wanting to replace the tripod for my, uh, telescope (I call it a monocular because it isn't all that powerful), but I keep putting it off thinking I'll get a real telescope. Every time I think about doing that, I walk outside and the sky is overcast, making it impossible to see the heavens. Back in 1985, one of the locals here drove to a nearby town where the sky was clear so he could take a picture of Halley's Comet. It was around 02:00 when he took the photo. It was spectacular.
