Ferrari absent at Bridgestone test

(21-Oct-98) - Ferrari will very likely not be present at the major
Bridgestone tyre test, two days after the Japanese Grand Prix, at the
circuit of Suzuka. A spokesman of the team said that Ferrari has planned to
start preparations for the 1999 season by December and that they don't see
any reason to change these plans. Also some other teams have their doubts
and see it more as a publicity stunt for Bridgestone.

Besides that, Michael Schumacher won't be able to take part of the test as
he has planned a trip to the Philippines with his wife Corinne. The German
does not only hopes to celebrate his World Championship victory with a
holiday, but will also take part of the Go-Kart Grand Prix. "It's a
real Kart Grand Prix where only the best Kart drivers will compete, that's
why I want to be there," Schumacher commented. Schumacher will be the
only Formula One driver competing in the event.
