Gene wins Minardi test

(22-Oct-98) - Former British F3 driver Marc Gene has won the inaugural Open
Fortuna by Nissan title and with it an F1 test for Minardi.

"I am happy and relieved" said Gene. "I had to win because
it was crucial for my career."

Gene is hoping a good performance for Minardi could lead to a test deal
with the Italian outfit but still wants to race: "If I get a deal,
I'll still be aiming to race as well, maybe back in Formula 3000 or in
GT's."
