Hakkinen gets maximum from Bridgestone

(22-Oct-98) - Bridgestone have pledged all its available resources to
helping Mika Hakkinen secure his first world championship at the Japanese
Grand Prix.

The Japanese tyre manufacturers believe they can secure the world
championship for Hakkinen and McLaren at the final round of the season on
November 1 and, third place in the constructors' championship for Benetton.

"With so much at stake on home soil, this is a nerve tingling race for
us," said Mr Horohide Hamashima. "We are determined to give Mika
every chance of repeating his memorable win at the Nurburgring in the
Luxembourg Grand Prix, of course.

"But we are also very much aware of the significance of the
constructors' title. Who would ever have thought a world championship would
be within our reach in only our second season of F1 competition?"
added the Bridgestone technical director.
