Yes Phil was my second and only good hubby. He died 1/29/94.
We married 3/21/86 (he picked the first day of spring) and I acquired
4 teens. Fortuantely I had 12 years of alanon BEFORE I had 4 teens.
AT 19 I married an alcoholic who beat me and stayed married 1 1/2 yr.
He wanted out I was going to stick. Daddy was an alcholic too.
And my ES&H is that divorce is worse than death becuase they left
voluntarily.
Also I dated an alcholic for 11 years before I quit on him. I figured
he'd never get sober. he tried 20 years ago and couldn't but I saw him
recently the fellow has 4 years sober NOW! But he's married.
I wouldn't marry an active alcoholic and even though the man 
frequently belittled me. He took me to nice places and treated me well
sometimesz.
 
One of my home groups bought the braille Alanon book One Day at a Time
for a blind member. And my old Girl Scout leader whom I lived with for
3 years, has vision problems. When she focuses on one word, she has to
completely refocus to get to the next word.
 
At least 3 times Alanons have loved me back to health.
I get occassional hurt since there's not that one special MAN in my
life today. I miss Phil. But I have his 4 kids and our 3 1/2 grandkids
And I have alanon and other friends. But it's lonely at night going to
bed alone and too quiet 10pm-midnight
